Mission Statement:
Spellbound Soaps was created out of a need to fill a hole in my beliefs that a ecologically and animal friendly bar of soap could also be a beautiful and fashionable improvement to the body and bathroom. We strive to provide quality products that are also ecologically friendly and while we are nourishing our skin we are not sacrificing the environment. The only animals our products are tested on are humans and they are always willing participants. It is the goal of Spellbound Soaps to leave you enchanted with each use and while not in use, to be a topic of conversation for anyone who goes into your bathroom.
The Owner
I am Sara and I am 24 years old currently residing in Los Angeles California. I am a corporate slave by day and writer, blogger at SaraIvy.org, soap maker by night.
Discovery
I discovered soap making by accident when I lived in Florida in October of 2012. Florida has some God-awful storms and while babysitting my then-room mate's baby I was trapped in Hobby Lobby without an umbrella or anything to shield the child from the torrential downpour. I decided to wait the storm out and went up and down every isle in the store. I discovered the soap making section near the candles and I became intrigued.
One the storm had died down I went home and immediately began researching. I watched hours of video's on How-To.... basically do everything from melt and pour, to cold process to embedding and swirling and making fun shapes with cookie cutters. It opened my artistic and creative Goddess inside to a whole new set of possibilities. I mean, my inner Goddess was pretty bored with the crafting world already. This was a new and exciting venture. I bought a kit and it never stopped. I went out and bought dyes, fragrance, oils, molds, things to make packaging...
Then I had all of this soap and nothing to do with it. My friends and even my own mother were sick of getting soap every couple of days. Thus, the fine people of the internet reap the rewards.
Spellbound
Why the name Spellbound? As I said, I was intrigued by the idea but more over I became enchanted, like someone placed a magical spell on me and I am now compelled to make soap. More soap, better designs, cuter names, funky ideas and incorporate all of it into soap making. I am spellbound by making soap and I hope that you will be enchanted and spellbound by them too.
